Home Nias Digital is committed to the open source process and as such most of our code base is licenced under the GNU Public Licence (GPL) or other open source licence.  On this page you can find links to the source code of every copy-left software used in our products.  For details of which packages are included in your particular device, please refer to its user manual or email gpl@niasdigital.com with details of your device.

If you wish to receive any of these packages by a means other than the download links here, you can once again email gpl@niasdigital.com with details of your request.  Note that a small shipping fee may apply.

If we have made any changes to the GPL'd source which have not been adopted upstream, we will list a patch here.  That's pretty rare though as we contribute as much as possible back to the projects themselves.  If the code isn't good enough for them then it isn't good enough for us and we will continue to refine it until it's accepted.

If you want to build exactly the binary which is found in your product, most configuration files are available upon request to gpl@niasdigital.com

Linux Kernel
The Linux kernel forms the base of many of our products.  We use both raw kernel.org kernels as well as Atmel vendor kernels.  For information on which one is used in your product, please consult it's documentation.

Atmel kernels: http://avr32linux.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/LinuxPatches

BusyBox
Busybox is the "Swiss-army knife" of embedded Linux.  It is a single binary which provides many of the standard command line utilities to be found on our devices.

FreeRTOS
Most of our products which don't use the Linux kernel run under FreeRTOS.  This is an excellent real-time operating system which we use on everything from small 8-bit microprocessors through to beefy 32-bit numbers.
